작품설명 [처음설계한집]
지금 생각해도 집을 지어본 실적도 없는 젊은 건축가에게 설계를 맡긴 것이 고맙고 또한 이상하기도 하다. 음 건축주를 만났을 당시 아직 땅이 정해지지 않은 상황이었기에 시간적으로 설계전에 많은 대화를 할 수 있었다. 오랜 간 대화를 통해 건축주 가족들에 대해 많이 이해할 수 있었고 어울리는 공간에 대한 상상을 많이 했기에 막상계획의 완성은 빨리 이루어졌다. 건축가가 좋아하는 형태와 공간이 아니라 그 집에서 평생을 살게될 사람들에 대한 이해가 먼저라고 생각했다.설계와 시공 과정중 많은 것을 배웠고 생각하게 되었다. 또한 기대하는 것은 앞으로 이 가족이 살아가는 모습이다.

[모퉁이집]
두개의 길이 만나는 부분에 집이 들어섰다. 길이 대지 기준으로 북쪽에 있기에 건축물은 길에 최대한 붙이고 남쪽을 비워내어 마당을 들었다. 집이라는 프로그램을 고려하여 길쪽에는 작은 창과 진출입을 위한 공간을 만들고 남쪽에 큰창과 거실을 배치하였다. 길과 건축물의 대응에 대한 고민을 많이 하였다.

[두 개의 박공지붕을 지닌집]
두가구가 사는 집이다. 한가구는 건축주가족 (아빠, 엄마, 어린아들)이 사는집이고 또 한가구는 임대세대이다.박공지붕은 관념상의 집을 가장 잘 표현하는 형태이다. 두개의 박공은 두가구, 또는 부모와 아이의 공간에 대한 구분을 외부에서도 보여주는 요소가 된다.

[추억을 담는 공간]
집이 완공이 되고 두달이 지났을 무렵 방문한 적이 있다. 건축주 내외의 이야기를 듣는데 상상하지 못했던 다양한 에피소드를 들려주었다. 아이는 자기방보다 다락을 더 좋아한다고 한다. 부부는 햇빛이 들어오는 1층 주방에 가장 오래 있는다고 한다. 1년,2년 또 10년, 20녀 시간이 지나면서 쌓여갈 가족의 추억이 너무 궁금하고 기대가된다

[벽돌집]
건축주는 젊은 부부이기에 특별한 사정이 있어 집을 떠나지 않는 다면 30년 이상 이 집에 있을 것이다. 지금 6살인 아들도 어른이 되었을때 가질 추억의 많은 부분이 이집이 될 것이다.
벽돌은 아주 오래전부터 쓰여져 왔고 시간의 흐름을 잘 담아내는 재료이다. 한장 한장 쌓아올리는 방식은 인간이 가장 처음 알게 되는 구축의 방법 중 하나이다. 그런 의미에서 이집의 재료는 벽돌이 잘 어울릴 것이라 생각했다.

[100mm의 가치]
68평 대지에 주차공간과 지구단위계획에서 지정한 공유외부공지를 제외하면 약 45평의 면적에 두가구를 배치하는 것이 계획의 시작이었다. 공간의 최소 통과 폭 900mm, 실의 최소 size 9 ㎡를 기준으로 요구한 실들의 조합을 하는 작업은 마치 단 하나의 조합으로만 완성되는 퍼즐 작업 같았다. 특히 집과 같은 프로그램에서 100mm의 가치에 대해 다시 생각하게 되었다.
